| MIAMI, FL December 30, 2011 – The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County is proud to announce REGGAE JAM, a one-night-only 2011-2012 World Music Series concert featuring performances by the legendary, award-winning reggae bands THIRD WORLD and INNER CIRCLE on February 24, 2012 at 8 p.m. In celebration of Black History Month, and the 50th anniversary of Jamaica’s independence in 2012, REGGAE JAM will light up the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall with explosive live stage performances featuring THIRD WORLD’s classic anthems “96 Degrees in the Shade,” “Now That We’ve Found Love,” and “Cool Meditation”; and INNER CIRCLE’s global smash hits “Bad Boys” and “Sweat (A La La La La Long),” among other classic reggae tunes. Local South Florida reggae bands Jahfe, Mixed Culture, The Resolvers, Spred The Dub, Stampede, Roots Shakedown, 4th Dimension and Skafyah – collectively known as the “Reggae Wave” – will open the show. Lance-O of Kulcha Shok Muzik will host the evening. Tickets range from $25 to $40, and go on sale to Arsht Center members January 2, 2012 and to the general public January 9, 2012. The $40 VIP Ticket includes a post-show meet and greet with THIRD WORLD and INNER CIRCLE, plus a limited edition signed copy of the “Reggae Wave” compilation. About Third World: Celebrating nearly four decades as pioneers of inspirational reggae music, THIRD WORLD is set to perform their legendary hits and showcase their new studio album, “Patriots,” which features collaborations with Junior Reid, Capleton, Tarrus Riley, and Stephen & Damian Marley. THIRD WORLD was formed in 1973 and has since released a total of 23 albums as well as solo projects from lead singer Bunny Rugs and famed guitarist Stephen Cat Coore. They have received numerous awards, including a New York City Ambassador Award in November 2009 at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), the 1986 "United Nations Peace Medal," 1992 and 1996 Jamaica Music Industry Awards for Best Show Band. The band’s hit singles also include "Dancing on the Floor," "Try Jah Love" (written by Stevie Wonder), "Sense of Purpose," "Forbidden Love," "Reggae Ambassador," "Committed," and "Reggae Party." The group has worked and collaborated with top acts such as the Jackson Five, Bob Marley and The Wailers, and Stevie Wonder.
